FloQuip powder polymer preparation units have been developed to provide a reliable, robust system for powder polymer batch make-up and storage. The powder polymer is metered via a fixed speed volumetric screw feeder into a moving stream of air. The powder polymer is then introduced into the water within the powder wetting device, where it combines with the water and is transferred into the mixing tank.
The resulting mixture is then agitated and aged to ensure full polymer dissolution. The batch of polymer solution is transferred on demand from the storage tank for dosing at the point of application.
Dry Powder Hopper
Constructed from 304 Stainless Steel the hopper is designed to hold 75kg (100litres) of dry powder. The hopper is fitted with low level powder sensor as standard; various options are available for big bag and vacuum transfer systems.
Volumetric Screw Feeder
304 Stainless Steel and Neoprene screw feeder available in two sizes:
- 1.1kg/min, fitted with a 0.18kW 400v/3Ø/50Hz, 4 – pole IP55 motor to drive the auger and a 0.25kW 400v/3Ø/50Hz, 4 – pole IP55 motor to drive the integral agitator and to prevent bridging and ‘rat holing’ of the powder within the feeder and dry powder hopper. The assembly is also fitted with a ‘sealed for life’ reduction gearbox for each drive.
- 4kg/min, fitted with a 0.37kW 400v/3Ø/50Hz, 4 – pole IP55 motor to drive the auger and a 0.55kW 400v/3Ø/50Hz, 4 – pole IP55 motor to drive the integral agitator designed to prevent bridging and ‘rat holing’ of the powder within the feeder and dry powder hopper. The assembly is also fitted with a ‘sealed for life’ reduction gearbox for each drive.
A moving air stream is used to transport the dry polymer powder from the powder screw feeder to the powder wetting device. Available in 2 sizes: 1.5kW for systems smaller than 5m³and 5.5kW for systems 5m³ or greater. The motors are all IP55 as standard.
Powder Wetting Device
Located above the mix tank, the device is designed to provide efficient and effective wetting of all powder polymer particles before they enter the mix tank.
Constructed from either Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), 304 or 316 Stainless Steel, and fitted with analogue level control, tank agitator, solution transfer pump and all necessary inlets, outlets and valves. The mix tank provides adequate capacity and the turbulence necessary to ensure total dissolution of all powder particles.
Solution Storage Tank
Constructed from either GRP, 304 or 316 Stainless Steel, fitted with analogue level control and all necessary inlets, outlets and valves.
Local Control Panel
Incorporating complete control of all associated drives and instrumentation.
Included as standard:
- Allen Bradley Micrologix 1400 PLC
- HMI touchscreen
- Contained in an IP65, single Form 2 type compartment unit.
